Are you between the ages of 5 and 18?
Do
you have extra time on your hands? Do you enjoy learning new things?
Do you want to gain valuable experience? Do you want to meet new
people? Do you want to make a difference in the community? If any
of these apply to you, then consider signing up to volunteer through
one of the programs at The Volunteer Connection.
There are two ways to get involved:
·
Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC)
- This is a new program of The Volunteer Connection that engages
teams of youth ages 11-18 in service opportunities
that meet community needs, and are educational, challenging, and
fun. These team-based service projects will occur throughout the
year, usually on Saturdays or sometimes after school, at various
sites in the community. You will have the opportunity to meet new
people throughout the area and reflect on the results of the project
together. Whether it’s painting a mural or organizing a canned food
drive, you can always find a project you’re interested in, or you
can submit an idea of your own.
This program is funded in part by the YW Legacy Fund at the
Greater Salina Community Foundation.
Before you sign up
for a project,
you must complete at least the first two steps of the
enrollment process and mail or fax
the completed Volunteer Enrollment Form to The Volunteer Connection
before the project date.
Check out our calendar of opportunities to find out what
YVC projects are available and how to sign up for a project.
·
Individual Volunteering
- We will set you up with an ongoing or one-time volunteer
opportunity that matches your interests and skills. See the
enrollment instructions below. Check out the calendar of
opportunities to find out what individual opportunities are
available.
Steps to Enroll:
1)
First, fill out the
Volunteer Enrollment Form and
Hobby Skills Bank as
completely as possible and answer the questions to the best of your
ability. If you don’t know how to answer a question, just leave it
blank and we’ll go over it later. Be sure to have a parent or
guardian sign the form if you’re under 18.
2)
Next, contact the Volunteer Coordinator at The Volunteer Connection by phone 823-3128 or e-mail
volcor@nckvc.org to schedule a brief orientation
(approximately 20 minutes) to go over your enrollment form and
explore some volunteer opportunities.
3)
Last, bring yourself and your forms on the scheduled date
and time to The Volunteer Connection, 239 N.
Santa Fe, for the
orientation.
