The targeted cause priority plan is the framework
around which Salina Area United Way organizes its efforts
to improve the commuity. There are six broad outcomes that describe
the kind of community United Way is committed to building.
To achieve results, United Way is committed to bring together
the community for collective action, to develop necessary resources
and to insure eficiency and effectiveness.

Nurturing Children & Youth: We see a community in which all children and youth
have opportunities to develop to their full potential. Our community
places a high value upon them and provides them with safe, healthy
environments that promote learning. |
Rebuilding Lives in Times of Emergency/Disaster: We see a community in which all people will be informed
and prepared to meet their basic and immediate needs and to rebuild
their lives after a disaster or personal emergency. |
Strengthening Families, Individual Well Being
& Self-sufficiency: We see
a community in which all persons and families enjoy secure, healthy
and supportive relationaships in households of which they are
valued members. All citizens will have the opportunity to become
self-sufficient in meeting their basic needs, employment and
lifelong learning. |

Fostering Health & Wellness: We see a community in which all people enjoy their
optimal level of physical, mental and chemical well-being, and
take personal responsibility for their own healthy lifestyle
and fitness. This is facilitated by health education, agency
services and timely access to affordable health care. |
Promoting Lifelong Independence for Seniors
and Persons with Disabilities:
Our community will recognize and respond to the projected increase
in the number of seniors and persons with disabilities who need
support to maintain independent living through a flexible system
which meets their chronic health and social needs. |
Enhancing Community Resources: We see a community in which the human service needs
of all persons in the Salina Area are responsibly and effectively
met. |
