There are six broad outcomes that describe the kind of community United Way is committed to building. To achieve results, United Way is committed to bring together the community for collective action, to develop necessary resources and to insure eficiency and effectiveness.

Nurturing Children & Youth: We see a community in which all children and youth have opportunities to develop to their full potential. Our community places a high value upon them and provides them with safe, healthy environments that promote learning.

Rebuilding Lives in Times of Emergency/Disaster: We see a community in which all people will be informed and prepared to meet their basic and immediate needs and to rebuild their lives after a disaster or personal emergency.

Strengthening Families, Individual Well Being & Self-sufficiency: We see a community in which all persons and families enjoy secure, healthy and supportive relationaships in households of which they are valued members. All citizens will have the opportunity to become self-sufficient in meeting their basic needs, employment and lifelong learning.

Fostering Health & Wellness: We see a community in which all people enjoy their optimal level of physical, mental and chemical well-being, and take personal responsibility for their own healthy lifestyle and fitness. This is facilitated by health education, agency services and timely access to affordable health care.

Promoting Lifelong Independence for Seniors and Persons with Disabilities: Our community will recognize and respond to the projected increase in the number of seniors and persons with disabilities who need support to maintain independent living through a flexible system which meets their chronic health and social needs.

Enhancing Community Resources: We see a community in which the human service needs of all persons in the Salina Area are responsibly and effectively met.
